Pre-commercialization investments eligible for the new innovation credit, and the CDAE, now focused on AI-integrated solutions

Quebec City (Quebec), March 25, 2025 – Today, AQT was invited to the closed-door session for the reading of Minister Éric Girard’s budget. This budget includes several adjustments to tax conditions affecting tech companies.

The proposals put forward by AQT members during our pre-budget consultations were well received by the government. Thanks to the engagement of our CEO members, four key recommendations were adopted, demonstrating the direct impact of our network on public policy. Among the approved measures are the preservation and accessibility of tax credits, enhanced commercialization support mechanisms, and a stronger focus on AI development.

One of the budget’s standout measures for Quebec’s innovative SMEs is the inclusion of pre-commercialization in the R&D program.

Further details on these changes will be presented during an exclusive AQT member-only online budget information session on Monday, March 31, at 8:30 AM.

Key Budget Changes Highlighted by AQT:
  • Elimination of eight tax measures and the introduction of the CRIC, which includes pre-commercialization activities;
  • The CDAE now redirects tax support toward AI-integrated solutions;
  • Programs designed to support digital investments for businesses affected by rates.
