A prestigious competition celebrating the success of Quebec’s tech SMEs
Since 2015, the PME en lumière AQT contest with the support of the National Bank has recognized companies in the Quebec techno sector that stand out for their capacity for innovation, commercialization and growth. Each year, the theme of the competition adapts to the economic reality and the evolution of the markets so that it is always a relevant portrait of the news of the business world in technology.
Market demands combined with the rapid technological evolution of recent years have significantly increased the importance of strategic partnerships for commercialization, innovation and business growth. And for this, the 2022 edition of the PME en lumière competition will reward one of the fundamental values of the AQT: collaboration between companies. Modalities 2022: strategic business partnerships (commercial or technological)
The 2022 edition of the AQT’s PME en lumière contest aims to recognize Quebec techno-digital SMEs that have stood out in the past year due to strategic partnerships (commercial or technological) by giving rise to proven success in one or several of these plans:
Marketing
Opening new markets, exporting, increasing the customer base, R&D efforts leading to commercial opportunities, etc.
Growth
Revenue, job creation/staff growth, operational cost reduction, etc.
Innovation
Design of a new product or component, acquisition of new technologies, financing of future innovations, etc.
Selection criteria
FIGURES
These quantifiable criteria make it possible to measure the company’s contribution to the strength of the AQT business network , as well as the representativeness of the industry in this period of pandemic.

Involvement in the Quebec techno community (20 points)
- Longevity of AQT membership (5 points)
- Implications through surveys and consultations (5 points)
- Participation in industry news (5 points)
- Involvement in the AQT network and mutual aid in the last year (5 points)
VOICE OF THE JURY
This component allows an independent jury to assess technological contribution in a pandemic period and excellence in terms of the projected image and clarity of the offer.
Details
Assessment of the initiative/partnership (15 points)
- Originality of the solution, objectives of the partnership, market need or resolution of internal problems
Growth / Commercialization (30 points)
- Revenue growth
- Customer growth in Quebec and outside Quebec
- Growth of investments in research, development and training
Innovation (15 points)
- Magnitude of Innovation/Measures of Success (ROII)
PUBLIC VOTE
Online voting (10 points) will be available for a period of one week preceding the “PME en lumière 2022” gala. The participants present at the gala will complete the public vote (10 points). During the gala, these votes will be counted and will count for the last 20 points of each finalist’s score. The company will obtain the highest score will become the techno SME of the year 2022.
